Meet Our Artistic Staff
Exceptional music education starts with passionate educators. Our artistic staff bring together decades of experience as conductors, performers, teachers, and mentors, creating an environment where young singers are challenged, supported, and inspired. Their shared commitment to musical excellence helps every chorister develop confidence, artistry, and a lifelong love of singing.
Britney Huynh
Junior Choir Director

Britney Huynh is an elementary music educator and choral conductor who is passionate about helping young children discover a lifelong love of singing. She believes music should be engaging, inclusive, and joyful while providing strong musical foundations that allow every child to grow in confidence and creativity.
Britney earned her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta before completing a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of British Columbia. Her education has provided her with a deep understanding of both music education and choral artistry, allowing her to create meaningful musical experiences for singers of all ages.
As an elementary music teacher with Edmonton Catholic Schools, Britney works with young musicians every day, helping them develop musical skills through singing, movement, creativity, and play. Earlier in her career, she taught early childhood music through the City of Edmonton Arts Program, where she discovered a special passion for introducing children to music in ways that are both educational and fun.
Britney's conducting experience includes serving as assistant conductor of Vocal Alchemy and conducting the Edmonton Military Wives Choir. As a performer, she has sung with several respected Canadian ensembles, including the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Pro Coro Canada, Chronos Vocal Ensemble, and Haven Choir. These experiences continue to shape her thoughtful and expressive approach to choral leadership.
At Lyrico Youth Choirs, Britney creates rehearsals where young singers feel welcomed, encouraged, and excited to learn. She believes every child deserves the opportunity to experience the confidence, friendships, and sense of belonging that come from making music together. Through quality instruction and a nurturing rehearsal environment, she helps choristers build skills that will benefit them both on and off the stage.
Kim Denis
Senior Choir Director

Kim Denis is an accomplished conductor, vocalist, educator, and clinician who is passionate about helping young singers discover both musical excellence and personal confidence through choral music. She believes that every rehearsal is an opportunity for young people to grow, not only as musicians, but as thoughtful, creative, and collaborative individuals.
Kim holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from the University of Alberta, along with Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from Mount Allison University. Her diverse educational background reflects both her artistic expertise and her thoughtful approach to leadership and mentorship.
Throughout her career, Kim has worked with singers of all ages in schools, universities, community choirs, and private studios. She currently serves as a voice instructor and choir director at The King's University, where she helps students develop healthy vocal technique, expressive artistry, and confidence as performers. She is also the founder of Purple Door Music Academy, where she provides private vocal instruction and music education to students throughout the Edmonton area.
Known for creating welcoming and encouraging rehearsal environments, Kim challenges singers to reach their full musical potential while ensuring that every chorister feels valued and supported. Her rehearsals combine technical excellence with genuine joy, helping young musicians develop strong vocal foundations while discovering the rewards of singing together.
In addition to conducting and teaching, Kim is an experienced adjudicator, clinician, and vocal coach, sharing her knowledge with choirs and singers throughout Alberta. Her commitment to lifelong learning and artistic growth continues to inspire the young musicians she works with each season.
As Senior Choir Director, Kim leads singers through a diverse range of choral repertoire while preparing them for performances, collaborations, and musical experiences that foster confidence, leadership, and a lifelong appreciation for the choral arts.

Board of Directors
Lyrico Youth Choirs is a registered non-profit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Working alongside our artistic and administrative teams, the Board provides leadership, governance, and strategic direction to help ensure the long-term success of the choir.
Board members oversee the organization's finances, policies, fundraising initiatives, grants, sponsorships, and long-term planning while supporting the exceptional musical experiences our choristers enjoy each season. Many of our Board members are current or former choir parents who generously volunteer their time and expertise because they believe in the lasting impact of music education.

Become a Board Member
Help shape the future of Lyrico Youth Choirs!
Our volunteer Board of Directors plays an important role in ensuring Lyrico continues to provide exceptional musical opportunities for young people in our community. Whether you have experience in governance, fundraising, finance, communications, or simply a passion for supporting youth and the arts, we'd love to welcome you.
Board members are elected each year at our Annual General Meeting, held on the first Monday rehearsal of October. We meet once a month on Monday evenings during choir rehearsals, making it especially convenient for parents with children in the program. However, you don't need to have a child in the choir to serve. We welcome anyone who shares our commitment to helping young singers thrive.
If you'd like to learn more about becoming a board member, we'd be happy to answer your questions. You can contact our Choir Manager or join us at our next Annual General Meeting.
